La Loire-Atlantique is a French department located in the heart of the Pays de la Loire. Formerly known as Loire-Inférieur until 1957,, this coastal region is full of a rich history which was reflected in the archives.

Migration and population movements in Loire-Atlantique (formerly Loire-Inférieur) played a crucial role in the history and development of the department.
