Manage the view parameters of your family tree according to your preferences

Arriving on the visualization tool for your family tree on Geneafinder, your tree is displayed according to pre-defined parameters that you can modify as you wish. 

To access the settings window, Click on the notched wheel on the left of the screen or on the top of the page. 

First of all, Choose the root person of your tree. The root person can be the first individual created, the youngest, the oldest or the person of your choice (to be defined by typing their name and then selecting them from the drop-down menu). 

Afterwards, Define the display order of ascending couples (man-woman or woman-man), from left to right or from top to bottom. 

Then, Configure the reading sense of your family tree. Un arbre « horizontal » vous montrera les ascendants à gauche de l’écran et les descendants à droite. Tandis qu’un arbre « vertical » vous présentera les ascendants vers le haut et les descendants vers le bas de l’écran. 

Finally, Choose the number of generations in ancestry and descendants you want to see. For a more centered and readable view of your tree, we advise you to define 5 generations for ancestry. But if you want to see all of your tree, register the maximum number of generations (20). 

💡 Note that the number of generations defined takes on the starting point of your root person. 

Find, add or change information directly from the view of your family tree

Fill your tree from the entry tool or from the visualization tool for your tree - now you choose! 

Indeed, you can, with one click, access information on your ancestors, modify it or add from your tree. 

For See information on a person, it's simple, just click on his name. You will find them directly in the information bar to the right of your screen. 

For Modify or add information to a person, click on your name and then click on the pencil icon. You thus access the entry tool directly.   

And the great novelty of this update now allows you to add a parent, a spouse or a child directly from the visualization space. For ce faire, c’est très simple, choisissez une personne-racine (depuis les paramètres ou grâce à un double-clic) et cliquez sur la feuille vide « Ajouter un… ». Notre outil de Saisie s’ouvre et vous pouvez ajouter toutes les informations utiles. N’oubliez pas de sauvegarder ! Cette nouvelle personne apparaîtra directement in your tree et sera directement reliée à ses parents proches.

Learn to easily navigate your family tree

- Use the held click of your mouse for you move in your tree

- Use the roulette of your mouse or your pad to zoom the view

- Click once on a person to display your information in the right bar

- Double-click on a person for change your roast person
