Geneafinder is involved in the protection of your personal data.
If you don't know it yet, Geneafinder is a free and private online site for genealogists. We have two ambitions: you save you time and offer you less complicated tools! But above all, Geneafinder is engaged in the protection of your personal data.
During the 2018 AZ challenge, we made the link between genealogy, personal data and GDPR in our article Who knows what to do with us?. Small reminder: according to the government, "any organization (administration, company, association, etc.) holds and deals with personal data. "Personal data is information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, directly or indirectly, by reference to its own elements.
Geneafinder collection of personal data
Like any other genealogy site or software, geneafinder Collect some of your personal data, but which ones?
Well, it's pretty simple. We collect your IP location, your email address, your messages, the identifier of your tree, the family names of your ancestors as well as the location of your more or less close ancestors.
These personal data is processed, but how?
Your IP address is used to help us solve the technical problems you encounter as well as to generate anonymous statistics concerning the general condition of the tool (13 -month lifespan).
Your e-mail address is useful to register and unsubscribe, to receive help and important letters.
The identifier of your tree is used to isolate your workspace.
And all the information on your ancestors is processed only in the services offered (visualization of the tree, estimator of missing dates, direct links to the archives, etc.).
Geneafinder is involved in protecting your personal data
Your personal data will in no case be used to wish you your birthday and remind you of your age. We know that many sites of sites on which you have already identified you already wish you. It will not be used either to find your famous cousins or those you would not want in your genealogy. Finally, your data will not be used or shared for other services than those we offer today.
Moreover, geneafinder.com is a private genealogy site. No user other than you have access to information from your tree and it is also not indexed to search engines or shared by partners.
